How to Apply
All applicants seeking admission to the Master of Athletic Training (MAT) Program must submit an application through ATCAS. The application timeline is July through May for a Summer entry term.
Application requirements for the MAT Program include:
- Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university in the United States; official transcripts from all institutions attended must be submitted directly to ATCAS.
- Preferred GPA of 2.85 or higher
- Completion of all prerequisites prior to matriculation. Only grades of “C” or better are acceptable for prerequisite coursework. The prerequisite courses include:
- chemistry I with lab,
- physics I with lab or biomechanics,
- two-course series of human anatomy and physiology with lab,
- biology,
- psychology with an emphasis on individual behavior, and
- introductory statistics or biostatistics.
- GRE scores optional, not required.
- Two (2) letters of reference must be submitted directly to ATCAS. One letter must be from a college or university professor and one letter must be from an athletic trainer.
- Required experiential hours: 50 hours of clinical observation under the supervision of an athletic trainer.
- Qualified applicants with complete files and who meet or exceed the admissions criteria listed above may be invited to participate in a personal interview.
