Service
Service is a cornerstone of Mercer’s Public Health programs. Students actively engage with community organizations to address health disparities and promote equity, health literacy, and social justice.
Examples of service opportunities include:
- Supporting WIC Clients Farmer’s Market in Lawrenceville, GA, where students share healthy eating information and help families use WIC benefits to purchase fresh produce.
- Partnering with Good Samaritan Food Bank to distribute fresh food and provide health education to underserved and unhoused individuals and families.
- Collaborating with AID Atlanta to offer free HIV testing on campus and educate participants about PrEP for HIV prevention.
- Participating in National Public Health Week activities to raise awareness of public health initiatives and their impact on community well-being.
Through these experiences, Mercer Public Health students gain practical skills in advocacy, education, and community partnership while advancing the mission of achieving health equity for all.
