How to Apply
All applicants seeking admission to the Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) Program must submit an application through PTCAS. The application timeline is June through November, looking ahead to the following Fall entry term.
Application requirements include:
- Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university in the United States; official transcripts from all institutions attended must be submitted directly to PTCAS.
- Required overall GPA of 3.0 or higher
- Required prerequisite GPA of 3.0 or higher; if you have taken a prerequisite more than once, all attempts will be considered in calculating the prerequisite GPA.
- Completion of all prerequisites prior to matriculation. Only grades of “C” or better are acceptable for prerequisite coursework. The prerequisite courses include:
- two course introductory chemistry series with labs,
- two course physics series with labs,
- two course series of human anatomy and physiology with labs preferred,
- a statistics or biostatistics course,
- a biology course,
- a psychology course with an emphasis on individual behavior (general, abnormal, or developmental), and
- a behavioral science course with an emphasis on group behavior (sociology, cultural anthropology)
- GRE scores optional, not required.
- Required experiential hours: Volunteer, observation, or work experience in physical therapy and service learning; a minimum 60 hours total, divided among three settings with at least 20 hours in each setting.
- Three (3) letters of reference must be submitted to PTCAS. At least one letter must come from a practicing physical therapist and one must come from a college professor.
- Supplemental essay and fee
- Qualified applicants with complete files and who meet or exceed the admissions criteria listed above may be invited to participate in a personal interview.
