Service
Service is at the heart of the Mercer University Physician Assistant Studies Program. Throughout their training, students have numerous opportunities to apply their clinical knowledge while serving diverse and underserved populations locally, regionally, and globally.
Students participate in community outreach events such as Lazarus Day, where they provide essential health services and education to individuals experiencing homelessness, and at Grace Village Clinic, a free clinic offering care to uninsured and underserved patients. They also join the South Georgia Farmworker’s Project, a collaborative effort with Emory University that delivers mobile medical care to migrant and seasonal farmworkers and their families.
For those interested in global health, international rotations, such as a pediatric elective in Kenya, offer opportunities to deliver care in resource-limited settings, expand clinical skills, and develop a global perspective on healthcare delivery.
These experiences allow Mercer PA students to deepen their clinical competence, strengthen their cultural humility, and embody the program’s commitment to service, advocacy, and improving health outcomes for all communities.
